• Analysis of qualitative data
• Reporting results
• Ethical considerations

A PDF copy of the course handbook will be sent to all participants at the end of the course.

Course assessment
To successfully complete the course all participants will need to design a simple evaluation. This can be on an evaluation they are considering undertaking.

Background to the course
Evaluation is a critical element in any road safety intervention as it provides the means to assess:

• If the intervention is delivering the anticipated benefits
• How the intervention can be further developed
• If the intervention is delivering good value
• How the participants are reacting to the content of the intervention.

In a wider context, it helps the profession learn and develop by allowing it to review what has worked before and build upon it.

Often road safety practitioners recognise the need to evaluate but are concerned that they do not have the skills to complete an appropriate level of evaluation. This course aims to provide the practitioner with these skills and to help them to recognise when they may need to consider accessing external support.

Who should attend the course
Any road safety practitioner who develops and delivers behavioural change interventions related to safety and/or modal change. The course will be of particular interest to road safety officers, fire and rescue staff and other related professions.
