Client Centred Learning (CCL) is a term used by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) to describe the educational approach they wish Approved Driving Instructors (ADI) to use when delivering driver education. CCL is not a single learning theory, it is based on a spectrum of approaches based on the client’s need.
The course covers a number of topics including:
- Learning theory
- Learning styles
- Lesson structure
- The Goals for Driver Education (Keskinen, et al., 2010) and its application
- Understanding how an ADI will be assessed on the DVSA Standards Check.
Working in partnership with eDriving Solutions, Road Safety GB has developed this two-day course to help driving instructors to develop these vital CCL skills. The course is highly interactive and includes a number of filmed clips from actual driving lessons to prompt group discussion and debate.
This course aims to provide an ADI with deep understanding of what CCL is and how it can be applied to driver education.
Who should attend this course
This course is suitable for any ADI, or anyone who is training to become an ADI, who wants to develop their understanding of CCL.
Learning will be assessed by completion of an assessment task, to be returned within 4-weeks of course completion.
