Course overview

In April 2014, the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) introduced a new Standards Check for driving instructors, as part of a series of changes aimed at modernising the driver training industry.

Under the new system, driving instructors are assessed on their ability to deliver a CCL approach, which looks to develop a driver’s ability to self-evaluate their own performance by using a number of educational approaches.

All qualified instructors are checked at least once every four years to ensure they continue to meet the required standards. ‘A’ grade indicates a high standard of instruction; ‘B’ grade indicates a sufficient level of competence, while ‘Fail’ indicate an unsatisfactory performance.

Working in partnership with eDriving Solutions, Road Safety GB has developed this two-day course to help driving instructors to develop these vital CCL skills. The course must be delivered by a driving instructor.

Date(s) and venue(s) for this course

1-2 February 2018
CCL Train the Trainer Course (two days)
Organised by West Berkshire Council • Newbury
Local authorities wishing to become a service provider licenced to deliver the ADI CCL course will first need to have a qualified approved driving instructor (ADI) in place to deliver the course. The nominated ADI will need to attend a ‘train the trainer’ course provided by Road Safety GB, which gives the ADI (trainer) and service provider the skills and information they need to run their own CCL courses for local ADIs. The fee to attend the two-day train the trainer course is £250.
A leaflet giving more information about the CCL course and the CCL Train the Trainer course is available for download from the members’ area on the Road Safety GB website.
